i cannot activate my word 2003.

ive had my pc for about a month.i've just tried to use word and it wont let
me do anything, it just say's that the document is locked. I've registered
online.Ive also tried to activate using the help menu and activate
product.Any ideas what i do!?

Was this a full version of Word/Office or just the trial version?
