Have you verified the settings? I mean, what this is saying is that your
AntiVirus/Firewall AVG isn't able to get to the pop3 server that you've
configured in your profile.

If you can go to Start-Run-telnet pop.netzero.net 110 and get a text
response, you might want to disable the proxy part of AVG and try Outlook
again.

Beats me, but you might want to consider using Outlook Express rather than
the web based reader, it's generally a much more friendly experience. Read
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/newsgroups101.mspx for
how to set up OE to use the microsoft newsgroup server).

This newsgroup is for support of Outlook
97/98/2000/2002/2003/2007 from the Office suite of products. Outlook
Express is actually a separate program despite the similar name.

For help with your OE questions, try an OE newsgroup such as
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general (for OE 6), or
an OE help website such as http://insideOE.tomsterdam.com. If you're
accessing the Microsoft newsgroups through the MS Product Support
Services "Community Newsgroups" web interface, click
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
Good luck!

-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server
There is the clue of your issues. You have a virus scanner installed that
acts as a mail proxy sitting between Outlook and your ISP. Disable/uninstall
this component of your virus scanner and configure Outlook with the POP3 and
SMTP server settings provided by your ISP and try again.

Virus scanners which integrate with Outlook or the mail protocol are well
known sources of causing email issues. You can disable this integration
without worrying about your safety as they are not adding an extra level of
security anyway.
See http://www.msoutlook.info/question/20

Funny that you quoted the original without failing to notice the word "also"
for a second time.
This means that the OP has issues with Outlook and verified the behavior in
Outlook Express.

So this post is very much on-topic for this newsgroup and the OP even
provided you enough info to come up with a reasonable suggestion on how to
fix it.
