Hi !

I have a problem with my DVD-Rom and DVD Burner.

This weekend I install Windows XP Pro from the beginning.

I have 2 hard drives and DVD-ROM and DVD Burner.

When I install windows with out any Service packs my CD-ROMs worked fine.

Then I installed SP1 and SP2 then my CD-ROMs didn't work any more.

I can see the drives but they can't read anything.

I read somewhere that I should check DMA settings.

I did and both CD-ROMs where set up for DMA.

I changed one of then to PIO and it started to work so I changed another to
PIO but it didn't work.

I also tried XP_CD-DVD-Fix.zip but that didn't work.

I can only get one of my DVD-ROMs working at a time. I'm not sure why.

If any one has any suggestions if would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

Well as no one else seems to have any ideas i'll give it shot !
Connect your drives as you want them permanently, make sure the primary
drives are on the end connectors of the cables and make sure that the 80way
IDE cables are plugged into the board with the correct end (they only work
properly one way round).
If this is all ok or correcting it does not work then try this :
I don't use XP but this might help, if it works the same as Win9x, boot in
safe mode, go to device manager and remove all the entries that refer to
disk drives and cdrom drives (not the controllers), also while you are in
there check there are no problems listed for any of the drives (ie.
everythings working properly hardware wise). Reboot and keep your fingers
crossed.
