This is the message I keep receiving. I have tried checking the anti-virus
system but an unsure what to do with it. It's NOD32
Help, please?

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Re: Law
school', Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.7.1 Authentication Required', Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

550 errors mean either you're attempting to use a sending (SMTP) server that
your ISP doesn't own and operate, or you have an authentication (name,
password, "My server requires authentication") setting that's incorrect:

When I send a message I get it returned with a message from System

"Relaying prohibited"

How do I fix this?

Another consideration is NOD32, if its been setup to scan your email. If
set this way, you should uninstall it, then do a custom re-install without
any email scanning features/modules. Email scanning is redundant, it does
nothing but create problems where none exist, and your system is still
fully protected without it, provided you keep NOD32's resident file system
scanner up to date.

That's not an antivirus problem.
In Windows Mail go to Tools, Accounts, select that account,
Properties, Servers, put a check in the box for "My server requires
authentication".
