I am trying to show a negative number in a chart in Powerpoint 200

I am working with a series of numbers by months and one of the months has a
negative number. How do I get that to show up in the chart I made to go with
the data?

What happens if you type in the negative number in the data sheet. The
negative number shows up here in the axis an in the data labels.

As Luc said, this should work automatically. However, if it is not,
right-click on your Y axis and choose Format axis... In 2003, choose the
Scale tab. In 2007, choose Axis Options on the left. You should be able
to set the minimum and maximum values for the Y axis or set it to
automatic (which should automatically update the minimum when a negative
number is entered).
