Does Access 97, 2000, 2002, or 2003 make use of hyperthreading in the new
Intel cpus?

Hyperthreading is a lightweight way for the CPU to
switch "context" and is transparent to applications. Thus,
any app that is threaded can benefit from hyperthreading.

That said, I do not know if any access version is threaded.

But what's your real question?

Eric

Probably not,but the operation system might.

On the other hand, I have not seen a database system that is processing
bound for about 10 years anyway.

In other words, we have more then enough processing. The only thing that
slows ms-access down is the speed of the network, or the speed of the disk
drive...neither of which will benefit in any way from hypertherading.

So, really, most ms-access applications after 800 or 1ghz of processing will
not run any faster when you improve the amount of processing you have. More
processing solves nothing when it comes to ms-access, but more disk, and
more network bandwidth most certainly make the largest impact (especially
now that we have more then enough processing!).
