Hyperthread and TV cards

Anyone ever get a TV card to work with hyperhreading? My WinTV card
freezes XP with hyperthreading turned on. I read reports that ATI is
the same way. It's a pain- in- the- butt to shut down, go in the BIOS,
shut off ht and restart. But without ht on, my kid says his music and
card game and ~10 AIM windows running at once go choppy with-out ht
on.

Hey, thanks alot!!! Looks real promising. I haven't done Service Pack
2 because I read somewhere it gave DIVX problems, also turns on
firewall? which makes my kids computer unable to print on the main
computer, but I guess I'll do SP2. Thanks again.

Well, shoot, you can just turn the firewall off. But it shouldn't prevent
shared printing if it's setup right anyway.

I'll have to go back and check it. But SP2 did fix the WinTV
hyperthreading problem !

You can find the Firewall settings are in Control Panel or right click on
your connection and select it from there.

For your printer, go to Exceptions and check the File and Printer Sharing
box. Then, for proper security, you should edit the scope for each and
restrict it to your local LAN addresses.

Well, SP2 fixed the TV card, but gave ne trouble when I open folders
on the desktop. I can open one once, but afer that, everything hangs
up and I have to logout thru the CTRL-ALT DELETE task box. So I went
back to restore ppint previous to SP2. I'm going to try again though.
