ATI Video Cards

This is to all that are having problems with an ATI AIW 9800 Pro video card.
I could not get the TV to work at all as I elated in a previous post that no
one has commented on.
However, ATI had me disable and reenable all sorts of things including
HyperThreading. When I disabled HT, the TV worked fine and I had only one
glitch that seems to have corrected itself.
ATI sent me a "patch" to disable use of HyperThreading in their software
when I want to watch TV on my computer. It only delays when it will crash,
but it could be for 2-3 hours until it does, or shorter.
ATI knows that the last update they posted is still not right, and there
will be fixes in the next release, when ever that is.
There is also a way to disable "TV on Demand" in the 9.13 MMC update if you
want to do a search.
I hope that this helps anyone out there. I still have the file and I can
email it to anyone if they contact me.

To disable hyper threading one should do so in the BIOS,not IE....As far as
ati video capture or tv editing, pitch thier software except for the normal
running
drivers/control-panel etc..Download WM encoder 9 series + the utilities,the
WMCAP works great along with encoder, get the codecs also. You can keep
running hyperthreading also..

Hello Andrew,
I did dis/enable HT in the bios, and the card did work as I had hoped. While
the ATI AIW 9800 Pro card allows viewing TV and recording of TV at a preset
time, ATI admitted that the drivers have problems, thus the entire problem
that has been plaguing me since Dec. '05. An update is coming, when is the
problem.
I also have Nero 7 and can use their TV functions as well.
I will consider MS WM Encoder 9.
The patch that they sent me works as it "disables" the ATI drivers to use
hyperthreading. The only problem is that the patch only delays a possible
crash of the TV function after a few hours of viewing.
Thank you for your time. I hope that ATI will get it a correct as possible
soon.
