hyperlinks in installation and programs like AIM

since before I can remember, on this computer I cannot
click links in programs such as AIM without an error
message. It says "program not found". Also, whenever an
installation continues by going to a website, it gives me
an error and exists. It says window's cannot find (the
url here) make sure you typed the name correctly and then
try again. Then it gives me a second message saying that
it could not execute the external program(url here). It's
really confusing me, is a program missing/altered that is
needed to go to these hyperlinks that are in other
programs?

Any help is extremely appreciated! Please e-mail me if
needed, (e-mail address removed). Thanks again for any help you
can give me!
