Hi all,

Is there a way to convert text into a hyperlink without the sometimes
undesired underline effect?

Thanks!
-Jake

A workaround is to put a blank box over the text and hyperlink to the box.

Draw a rectangle autoshape that will cover the entire text.
Next, double click on the autoshape to bring up Format Autoshape.
Under Fill section, set the Transparency to 99% and Line color to "No Line".
Ok your way out.

Now, right click on the 'invisible' autoshape and click Hyperlink. Add the
hyperlink you want on the autoshape instead. Does that help?

There isn't a way to not show the hyperlink format, but I have a trick that I
show when I'm training PowerPoint:

Draw a rectangle shape (or any other shape).
Add the hyperlink to the shape
Place the shape over the text
Format the shape so that there is no line & no fill

As the shape is automatically place on top of the text placeholder, when you
are in show mode, you won't see any text formatting, but when you move the
mouse over the word, line, etc. you will get the link hand.

When you are in normal view and need to find the no color/no line shape, use
the tab key to cycle through all objects on the slide.

I hope that helps.

Got it, thanks.
