Hyperlink trouble

Hello,

I have been successful in useing hyperlinks both in a
document and between word documents, using ms word 2000.

Is there a way to make the hyperlink selectable with one
mouse click rather than the default ctrl+mouseclick?

Also, i have tried to make selectable 'buttons' for
hyperlinks, but it wont allow me to select the entire
area, either the border to the button or the text, but no
tht espace inbetween.

Thanks for all help and suggestions,

H.T.

Re your first question only --
You open hyperlinks by default by pressing CTRL while clicking the
hyperlink. If you want to open them by just clicking, do the following:

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab
Clear the Use CTRL+ Click to follow hyperlink check box
Click OK to close the Options dialog box

Re your second question:
Try assigning a hyperlink to a command button; when you click on the command
button, you will be taken to the destination of the hyperlink

Do the following:
· Move the insertion point to the location in the document where you want to
insert a command button
· On the View menu, click Toolbars
· Click Control Toolbox to display the Control Toolbox toolbar and click the
Command Button (a solid gray rectangle)
· A selected command button appears at the location of the insertion point;
you can resize the button by dragging the drawing handles; the button is a
graphic with the In line with text wrapping style
· Right click the command button, point to CommandButtonObject and then
select Edit
· Press BACKSPACE repeatedly until you have deleted the default text in the
button
· Type whatever text you would like in the button (i.e., something that will
suggest the destination of the hyperlink)
· Select the command button, click Hyperlink on the Insert menu and specify
the destination of the hyperlink in the usual fashion
· Click anywhere outside the command button
· When you move the insertion point over the button, it will turn into a
hand
· If you click the button, you will go to the specified destination

If Options are not being saved it may be that (a) you need to rebuild Word's
Data key in the Registry (see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions),
or (b) an add-in is changing your settings at Startup.

Jon,
I tried turning off the CTRL Click, and it works, however, it keeps
defaulting back after I have exited the document and then return. Is there
a way to permentently turn it off?

Jon
I have done this but it keeps reverting back to CTRL CLICK as the preferred option

When I first change the option to de-select CTRL Click, it works in the document. But if I exit word and then re-enter word, it reverts back to CTRL Click. How can I permently make this option "stick"
Thanks!
