Hyperlink shortcuts?

I am trying to create hyperlinks in a database. All the links in the table
are to files in the same folder on my PC. Is there a way I can automatically
have the first part of the link as a default eg "F:/folder/". Then I could
type dog.doc and F:/folder/dog.doc would open. I want to be able to change
the first part as it's accessing my memory stick which doesn't alwahs have
the same letter drive on different PCs.

I am having a similar problem where I want the backend to be a variable
dynamically named file. Can't seem to ge the syntax correct.

I am interested in where this discussion goes though.
