hyperlink question

Hello.
I have a table with several paths to files.
Then i've created a Continuous form that displays the file paths related to
the record i'm using. What i'd like to do is to allow the users to open the
files.
Right now this isn't working. The files can be of several formats (*.doc,
*.pdf, ....)
Can anyone give a hint on how to do this ?
