I have Microsoft Office for MAC 2008

When I open a document, links come up {www.website.com HYPERLINK }

In addition, inserting page numbers does not work. Instead it comes up {
PAGE }

Please help.

Press ALT+F9 or whatever the MAC version of that might be.

F9 updates the field. ALT+F9 on a PC toggles the field display
A quick look at Google suggests that on the MAC the 'Option key' is the
equivalent of ALT.

And if Preferences is the Mac equivalent of Options, then there should be a
View tab where the check box for "Field codes" can be unchecked.
