I have several PowerPoint files linked via hyperlink buttons. I would like
to disable the file path names that will appear over hyperlink buttons in the
PowerPoint Show mode. Is there a simple setting to accomplish this?

Amandacat,
Don't know if it will help you but, when you apply the hyperlink, click on
the screen tip button don't type anything and hit OK.
Maybe someone else will have other and better ideas though.

The Screen Tip button already shows nothing when it's opened. Selecting OK and closing makes no difference.

Try entering just one space. You will still get a little blank box that will
display, but it's the closest you can get to nothing. However, in the
PowerPoint Viewer, the text will still display.
