Hyperlink in Slide Master

Guest

I need to set up hyperlinks to different sections of my presentation which
appear on every slide.

I have inserted autoshapes into my slide masters and assigned a hyperlinks
in each one to a specific slide, but when I return to Normal View the link
does not work.

Also, the format / colour of the text in the autoshape containing the
hyperlink changes and cannot be edited.

Any ideas?

I have Powerpoint 2003.

Thanks

Are you hyperlinking the text in the autoshape or the autoshape itself?
Try clicking on the edge of the autoshape and choosing Insert >
Hyperlink, rather than clicking on the text. The text color should only
change if you hyperlink the text, not the autoshape. I just tried it, and
it all works as it is supposed to.

The text issue is resolved as you suggested, but for some reason I still
cannot get the hyperlink to work in the autoshape. The cursor does not change
to the 'hand' icon at all.

My slide master contains a number of shapes, some overlaying large areas of
the slide.

I tried inserting an autoshape and bringing it to the front, but still no joy.

Presumably Insert => Hyperlink or right click Hyperlink is the only dialog
that needs to be called to make this work?

I wonder if you have other objects (perhaps empty parts of text boxes)
covering your autoshapes. Everything on the slide master is behind
everything on the slide, so even bringing the autoshape on the slide
master to the front won't help.

Hyperlinks and action settings only work during a screen show. They never work
in normal view.

The color scheme controls the color of hyperlinked text. Change the color
scheme and the text color will change.

OR

Apply the hyperlink to the shape rather than to the text IN the shape. Then
the text color won't change.

Just realised what the problem is - I was testing the hyperlinks in Edit
mode, not in Slideshow mode.

Everything working fine - my apologies!

As David says there is probably something masking the button.

Empty parts of text placeholders won't do this but one with blank lines (ie
you pressed enter) will as will text boxes with spaces and invisible parts
of transparent png / gifs

Try moving the button on the master to say top right and see if it works
there.

LOL. Sorry, I forgot to include the obvious in my response. Glad it's
working now.
