Hyperlink Does Not Work

I know how to insert hyperlinks within PowerPoint 2007. But when I go to use
them or make a new hyperlink, an error says "cannot download the information
you requested." This has never happened to me before and I can't find a
solution. Does anyone have the answer?

Can you give us some more details? I am particularly curious about what
you are hyperlinking to. Hyperlinks can go to another slide, a custom
show, a slide in another presentation, a Web page, another document on
the local computer, another document on a server, ...

Well it is all of the above. For now though, I was trying to hyperlink to
websites. When I go to insert -> hyperlink, the hyperlink button is inactive
as well as the action button. I don't know if this is stupid to assume, but
maybe my powerpoint is "offline" in some way shape or form. I even tried
"reactivating" my powerpoint but it said it was already activiated. I'm just
not sure how to fix it. Thank you.

Now, you've really got me confused. First, you say that there is an
error and then you say you can't insert hyperlinks at all. Are you
getting the error, on hyperlinks you previously inserted and can't
insert any new hyperlinks?

First, an answer that assumes you are doing something really dumb...You
can only create hyperlinks when you have something selected to hyperlink
from. Do you have any text or objects selected?

Assuming that the dumb answer isn't your problem, it sounds like you
have some corruption. Does this happen to all your PowerPoints or just
one? Have you restarted PowerPoint? Have you restarted your computer?

If it is just one PowerPoint, you might try some of the suggestions at:

If it is happening to all PowerPoint files, you might try Detect and
Repair: OfficeButton, PowerPoint Options, Resources, Diagnose

Okay, I'm sorry for confusing you. I wasn't paying attention earlier, and I
did not have anything selected before I tried to insert a hyperlink. I think
I was just getting frustrated and not paying attention.

I saved my presentation and tried it on a different computer and it works on
that computer (which is fantastic because I have to present it tomorrow).
But it still won't work on my computer. I tried restarting my computer as
well, but the error message pops up when I try to open the link which says
"Cannot download the information you request."

I also tried previous presentations that have worked in the past and now
they do not let me open hyperlinks either.

OK, now we're getting somewhere. It seems that you have one problem
(opening hyperlinks), and it is on your computer, not in your
presentations. Did you try the Detect and Repair suggestion? Can you
hyperlink from other programs? Have you tested it different types of
hyperlinks?

Well, I came across this problem before. I checked it and found it was
the problem of the website.
So maybe you can check if you can open the site directly from browser.
Or maybe you need some powerpoint tips
