Hyperlink and page numbering changes

Suddenly last week, all the hyperlinks in my documents changed from
clickable links to the following text - { HYPERLINK "actual url" } -
none of which are clickable.

In addition, the page numbering on documents changed from the actual
page number to
{ PAGE } on every page.

Have I changed something without realising it?

Press Alt+F9 to switch between display of field codes (what you
see now) and field results. If that doesn't help, then in Word,
click on Tools | Options | View tab | uncheck the boxes for
"All", "Hidden text", and "Field codes" | Print tab | uncheck the
"Hidden text" and "Field codes" boxes | OK.
