Hypelinks in email give error

I get the following error when clicking on hyperlinks embedded in e-mails.

This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator.

Microsoft knowledge base addresses this issue and says that if the problem is not resolved after resetting IE browser to default settings, then I have a corrupt registry key (HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Classes\htmlfile\shell\open\command) and must "import" it from another computer.

The problem is this computer is not on a network and have no computer in which to locate a "good" key.

Also, this key doesn't even exist in my registry.

Can anyone help me edit my registry and re-create the key myself?

Annoyed,

Bill

well, you can try making the key. on my win2k machine it is a REG_SZ type
and contains the string (with the quotes!):

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

Thank you, this seemed to work, except one small problem...

The html link in email does not work unless IE is open, otherwise it opens Windows Explorer and is looking for a file. (?)

Any thoughts?
