Huge Problem

Jeremy

Okay, about two weeks ago, my hard drive semi-crashed. I
would boot up the computer and it would load up the
compaq screen but wouldn't go farther than that. Then, it
said that there was a fatal error in C://something and it
needed the original Windows XP Professional CD, so I got
that, and I fixed the problem (reinstalled XP), except,
when I finally did get back to my desktop, everything on
the computer was exactly how it was from when I bought it
2 1/2 year ago, all my personalizations were gone, the
games I had installed gone, etc. The main problem that
I'm getting to is that when I reinstalled windows, I
guess I accidentally (and I honestly don't know how) made
the "D" Drive my 'main' drive instead of my "C" Drive,
which has MUCH more space. All the programs that I had to
reinstall like Yahoo Messenger and AIM and the files that
I DLed went onto the D drive. Also, before my comp.
crashed or whatever it did, I had about 3 or 4 computer
games installed on the C drive taking my memory on the C
drive down to 6 gigs, well, after the crash, I still have
only 6 gigs on the C drive and the games are no where to
be found, and when I try to reinstall them, it
automatically tries to install the games on my D drive
which doesn't have any space at all now. So, my main
points are, how do I get my "C" drive back as my main
drive?, and is there any way I can either get the memory
back for the games? Thank you for whoever solves this
long riddle, I've worded it best I can. And if you have
an answer to this, please e-mail your reply to
(e-mail address removed). Thank you so much.

Jeremy, in my opinion I think it would be wise to just start over. If
your C and D are partitions of the same drive then
using the WinXP CD and booting from it you can delete and create new
partitions. Then just do a clean install of WinXP
on the C drive. If you had done a Repair Install instead of a
reinstall you probably would have kept mostly everything intact. For future
reference here's a good site.
