Huge file from Send to Word

I send many my PowerPoint presentation to Word using the Send to Word
feature. I like the resulting table format in Word, but the file sizes are
huge. At one point I thought I read about a way to break the links and reduce
the file size. Am I dreaming?
 
Actually, the linked file should be smaller. What causes the large size is
the choice to include copies of the slides in the Word Table. Keep in mind
that the entire PPt file is embedded in the doc if you don't use the Link
option. However, you can break the links in the Edit> Links dialog.
