Huge breakdown in windows installations

Hello,

Has anyone dealt with a problem where they can no longer
install windows updates, which causes installation of all
windows programs to not install, and I can no longer get
my IIS to work on my machine?

I can download the patches but it just stops there and
doesn't install anything. I've looked everywhere but can't
find anything for XP.

run a repair install, turn on xp firewall
go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and download and
install blaster worm patch

delete the c wutemp folder and rename the c windows

system32 catroot and catroot2.

turn off any third party firewalls and antivirus and
download updates in batches of no more than thirty
minutes of download time,reboot after install

then if system working ok ,repeat the download and
install reboot. till you have installed all critical
updates
