when i am clicking on a lot of links they displays https:
as part of the web page address and hence cannot find the
page. could someone tell me what causes this problem?

The extra s in https indicates a secure site. The normal site should be
http://

For example, http://www.microsoft.com.

The secure site of microsoft would be:
https://www.microsoft.com/

Now when you click on the secure site, you should get alert boxes to
warn you that you are entering a secure site. Unfortunately, you can't
stop http to become https but you can stop alerts popping up by
downgrading your security to LOW. To do this you need to go to
Tools/Options and click on Security Tab. Change Medium to LOW. Now
click on Privacy Tab and change this to LOW as well.

Hope this helps.
