http / address response (delay)

When I enter a new web address (e.g. www.msn.com), there
is a delay (long) for the brower to respond. Yet - when
I enter the address differently (e.g.
http://www.msn.com) -- the browser immediately responds.
Any fixes or solutions --

Make sure you have no unused Network cards installed. If
so disable it in Control Panel > System > Device Manager

or could be spyware
