HTML imported to Excel with Multiple CSS Classes on elements

I can't get office 2003 to recognize multiple style sheet classes when
importing HTML.
For example: <td class="class1 class2"> should apply both class1 and class2
(it does in Internet Explorer)
It this a bug in Office 2003?
Does anyone have any experience with this issue?

It is general accepted knowledge among web developers that Microsoft
products don't adhere very well to the official CSS standards. Or any
other W3C standards. That is why quirks were invented. ;-)
