Html Help File Partial Display

I suspect I have a very similar problem to Benedictum with his post of
"Compile HTML file" just today - maybe there is an epidemic<g>. I
just wrote and compile a chm file which works on several computers
except one. All are running Windows XP Home and are up-to-date
including IE7 except for the problem machine which is SP2 but still
running IE6.

When copied to this computer and run it displays the two panes with
the contents properly displayed but in the right hand pane the browser
reports "Action cancelled, IE was unable to link to the Web page you
requested. The page might be temporarily unavailable." If I then
attempt to explore the other items in the Contents window I just get
blank pages. Now if run directly from a memory stick or a CD they
run fine - the problem only occurs when copied and run from the
computers hard drive. I duplicated this with other help files
including one included with a commercial product. We checked a
several other chm files already on this computer and they all run fine
(we certainly did not check them all <g>); it's just anything I try to
copy onto the HD.

Appreciate,

Ed

1.Right-click the CHM file, and then click Properties.
2.Click Unblock.
3.Double-click the .chm file to open the file.

After reading for 30 minutes the two Knowledge Base articles and
several hyperlinked references, the fixes looked highly suspect but
rather than mess with the registry changes, the better move appears to
first try to update this computer to IE7 and its subsequent fixes.
Yes, I am guessing, but it is the browser that is controlling and
specific ocx modules and with the latest browser installed possibly
the problem will "go away" - we don't have in on any machines running
IE7.

My uneducated flyer to upgrade to IE7 on the problem computer proved
not to help. Error message is not worded identically - now
"Navigation to the webpage was canceled," but certainly the same
intend. Will study the KB articles more thoroughly to see if I can
follow. I need that computer to display this help file.
