How do I prevent htm and xml attachments from being sent with slides emailed
to contacts

I don't understand the question.

If you save a PPT file and attach it to an email, the only thing that gets
attached is a PPT file.

If the recipients are getting other stuff, it might be something your email
program's doing. Are you using HTML email, for example? Stationery in
Outlook? Pretty sure that'd result in additional drek getting tagged onto the
email.
