Hello, I am new to computers and Windows XP. Whenever I try to access a few sites that I've saved in my favorite, The site shuts down and sends me to my desk top wher there is a message that I don't understnd. It starts hs_err_pid3204 the numbers change each time. These are sites I used all the time.

Can someone tell me what causes this and tell how to fix it?

Darby, go to www.google.com and use "hs_pid_err" (without the quotes) as
your search term. There seems to be a small amount of history on this. Some
dates back a few years but there seems to be a rash of recent problems with
this kind of error messge.

Apparently, the error is related to Java but the cause can vary. I am
seeing discussions about video drivers, spyware, certain programs, Sun's
Java plugin for the browser, etc.

Since the errors seem to occur only when visiting certain sites, Sun's JRE
seems a likely candidate. Possibly the problem sites are still optimized
for the MS JVM or it may just be a common error existing at those web
servers. You may want to contact Sun's technical support (or browse their
online help area) to see if you can get some more information.

If you have a GeForce card, check the nVidia website for an XP compatible
updated driver and see if that resolves it. If not, it may be a problem
with your Java Engine. MS-JVM is no longer available but you can install
Sun's Java Engine from the following site:
www.java.com.

What causes it is either a problem with the Geforce driver or a combination
of issues with the driver and a possible conflict with Java or the Java
engine running on the system.
