HP USB 2.0 scanner

I unplugged the scanner and tried to plug in different ports on the same USB
2.0 card. Thereafter, I noticed that the select device in HP Director has a
couple of choices: hp scanjet 5590, hp scanjet 5590 #2, hp scanjet 5590 #3,
hp scanjet 5590 #4 and hp scanjet 5590 #5. I need to try one by one to find
out which one is working. Can someone advise the possible causes and fixes.

Thanks,

Ray

They are all instances of the same hp scanjet 5590, the difference is the
port number of the USB port. Each time you changed ports on the USB card,
Windows created a new instance of the driver for that port.

Only one instance will be active at a time. (the port you have the cable
plugged into).
