HP Scanjet 3500c software problems

I just reinstalled XP and also, my scanner software. Unfortunately, the
HP Imaging software interface no longer allows me the option of
scanning anything--it simply allows me to access the Image Gallery
(i.e., My Pictures), which I have no need to do through their software.
I uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and got the same problem. I went to
the HP site and downloaded an updated version of the program--same
problem. I really am puzzled, as this has never happened before. I'm
not too sure how to describe it, but if you have had the Scanjet
software on your computer, you must be able to see that my choices have
been whittled down:

Thanks.

I just installed this on an uncle's computer. I'm guessing that it's not
recognizing your scanner. Could be you need to load the driver for the SCSI
card to get the scanner hardware up and running. Right-click on "My
Computer" and select "Manage" or "Properties" and or open up Device Manager
and see if you have a big yellow exclamation point over the scanner driver,
or any scanner driver at all. Try this also, unplug the scanner interface
cable and reboot. After the system is back up, plug the cable back in, XP
should give you a message saying "found/installing new hardware".

Alan, thanks. I deleted my post after I realized that the scanner
wasn't plugged in. I have so many power cords plugged in that I have
labelled them, and the label marked "scanner" fell off and migrated to
another cord. After actually plugging in the scanner, my computer
detected the hardware and all was well.
