HP scanjet 3300c / HALFTONE output ?

Using an HP Scanjet 3300c, Im trying to produce HALFTONE output...
Ive seen
this as an option on some menus, but on my current menu I see just
three options...
"color / grayscale / lineart"... thats it.

This is using the sane scanning program, via gimp.

Would this be a problem of installing a specific backend possibly
? If so, I have not
done this yet... otherwise, the scanner does otherwise work fine with
this software, it
just doesnt show a HALFTONE option.

Any help appreciated

Halftone is produced by printers and by printing press halftone screens.
See Digital halftoning at the bottom of this page.

If you are talking about the moiré you get when scanning magazines and
newsprint.

You and use the Manual method for scanning halftone.

Scan in grayscale at the max optical resolution of the scanner (600dpi).
