HP PSC 950 <> Vista

I need help to get Vista install my HP printer/scanner PSC 950. It
recognize the printer and try to install drivers for it, but does not find
any drivers. It asks me to input my CD for the printer, and I have tried
that with no luck.
On HPs website the say that my printer is built in to Vista and that Vista
should install it with no problem. This is not true since I cant make Vista
install it.
I have tried to unplug/plug the USB cabel for the printer, and Vista does
the same thing every time, trying to install the driver for it with no
success.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium on a HP Pavilion dv6000.
Any help please?

Hello. I do not know the answer but want to share my experience with HP
technical support. It might help you. In the HP website below HP states that:
"The drivers in the Windows Vista operating system do not support button
press functionality on the printer." The website is this:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c00809848&dlc=en&printable=no&encodeUrl=true&

After 5 hours with the HP technical support I concluded that the HP website
above is right, the Scan button does not work with Vista. It should work
because the printers carry the logo "Vista Ceritified". I tried two different
printers: Photosmart C4385 and C4280 via USB. My PC tablet is Toshiba Portege
M400-ST4001 Vista Ultimate, 4GbRAM
I hope it clarified a bit .

Hi..
I tried it this way now and it worked for the scanner part but not for the
printer part.
When trying to install driver for the printer it says an error occured while
installing and could not install the driver.
Any idea what to do now? Anyone?

There are a number of ways to accomplish this. The easiest is having the
application installed on both machines and either saving the file to the XP
machine of saving to a flash drive and loading the file on XP to print.

If the association is correct on XP you can just drag the file to a printer
shortcut which will launch the application and print the document.

According to HP, the driver for the PSC 950 is included in Vista. Are you
connecting the printer to a USB or LPT port? If LPT port see if adjusting
the BIOS port configuration gets this device printing.
