HP Printers & Windows Vista

I currently am running a Home Network using a Linksys 8.11g router. All the
computers are running Windows XP. On this network are three printers:

HP PSC 2175 (January 2002)
HP DeskJet 5850 (May 2004)
HP LasetJet 1200 (August 2001)

I need to replace one of the computers and was wondering if I should stay
with Windows XP on the new computer or will Windows Vista.

I do not want to have to replace any of the printers or the router.

Thanks!

I'd advise against it - Vista will certainly not work at all with those
printers. It will just be a big headache. Until you are ready to upgrade to
Vista compatible printers stay with XP if you are happy with it.

See:

HP DeskJet 5850 (May 2004)

See:

us&dlc=en&product=305980&lang=en

which says to use the Deskjet 5600 Alternatea driver and how to install
it.
HP LasetJet 1200 (August 2001)

No VISTA drivers listed for this but see:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang
=en&cc=us&prodNameId=29790&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=29789&swLang=8
&taskId=135&swEnvOID=228

for the XP drivers.

This might be a good candidate for replacement -- I'm using the LJ2200d
which runs fine under XP and under VISTA.

With these printers installed networked to theXP printer, as I
understand it you need to know how to get them working over a network
from a VISTA machine with the XP machine still there?

Not so according to the HP website: two of three have VISTA drivers. I
have my LJ2200d working fine using XP drivers.
