HP PhotoSmart Software

I asked this question about a year ago, but didn't get much response,
hopefully someone has an answer.

I'm trying to find info on HP's PhotoSmart software, not software
specifically for the PhotoSmart line of printers, but some photo
printing software called PhotoSmart. It came with my 970cse, on the
CD in /ENU/PHTOSMRT. It installs as "HP PhotoSmart" or "HP Photo
Printing". What I'm trying to figure out is, my version 1.6.0.18,
does anyone know if there's a newer version, or what the newest
version is? Has anyone recently purchased a new HP printer, and does
it come with this software?

I downloaded and installed this, but didn't get the actual PhotoSmart
software (which is not at all related to the photosmart line of
printers, it's for printing pictures in various layouts). Conversely,
if anyone is familiar with this software and knows some other
commercial software which is as good or better (which I haven't found
yet), I'd like to hear about it.

I have an HP PSC 2510 which included HP Photo and Imaging Gallery 3.0. This
software appears to be included with the Photosmart cameras, printers and at
least some of the all-in-one units. Some information is available at the

Thanks for the info Bob. I just went to your link and, while it
appears to be quite different from the HP PhotoSmart software I'm
thinking of, it also has a lot of the same features. I'm wondering if
this is the HP PhotoSmart evolved. Unfortunately, you can't d/l the
software, only order the CD, so I'll have to wait.

Why have to go with PhotoSmart specific when there are tons of
shareware (freeware ?) photo printing program out there? I have
PhotoSmart 7350 but don't use any program came with it.

The version I got with my HP5550 is 3.20.0.8. I don't know how to go about
getting an update; couldn't find help at HP site.
