HP OfficeJet G55 and Scan To File

Hi there. Thanks in advance for any advice anybody could give me. I
have a client that has an Officejet G55 hooked up to a new Dell laptop
running Windows XP Professional. The G55 has a Scan to File feature
which basically scans a document directly into Microsoft Word when he
hits the scan button on the printer itself.

Now, the only way to scan a document is to actually open up the HP
Director software and choose to scan a document manually. When this is
done, everything scans fine. However, when I tried to go into the Scan
To settings and re-tell the printer to scan to Word when the button is
pressed, I got the following error message:

Scan To Settings Error
----------------------
We were unable to save your Scan To settings. Make sure your hp
officejet is on and that both ends of the cable are connected. Click
Retry to attempt to save these settings again, or click Cancel and try
again later.

So basically I'm getting an error that the printer/scanner isn't
connected when, in actuality, everything is connected correctly and
works fine except when the scan button is pressed on the
printer/scanner itself.

Has anyone seen this before? I've tried re-installing the G55 and have
had the same problem when it's connected via USB and Parallel. Thanks!

I am getting the same thing on a new Officejet 7130 All-In-One on a
Windows XP desktop machine using USB. HP support says reinstall USB
drivers and/or 7130 software. I have reinstalled the 7130 software to
no avail. I have not yet done the usb port uninstall/reinstall.
