HP Office Jet 6100 all-in-one will print but will not scan

I'm using Windows 2000 Professional and am having the
above problem.

This is a recognized problem and the Microsoft site says
the following:

Scan Function May Not Work On USB Multifunction Printers

SYMPTOMS
When you try to scan an image on a Universal Serial Bus
(USB) multifunction printer/scanner device, the scan may
not succeed.

Windows 2000
Service Pack Information
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack
for Windows 2000. For additional information, click the

Hotfix Information
A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft, but it
is only intended to correct the problem that is described

I installed the latest service pack and am still having
the issue. How do I get the hotfix?

That means phone them!
