HP LASTERJET 1100

I am having the same problem. Happened after upgrading
from W98 to XP. I have to unplug the printer, wait a few
seconds and plug back up. The first page is junk..if it
is a post, I am in a bind because I cannot reprint. This
is happening on two machines. So far no luck with HP
forums either.

If you kept the printer connected during the upgrade, chances are high you
have corrupted the drivers.
