HP LaserJet 8000 - Margins are slightly off

I

Internet

I have an HP LaserJet 8000 Series printer.

Margins are slightly off, causing text at the top of the page to be
cut off.

Users print from Windows XP SP2 and SP3 over HP Standard TCP/IP Port.
Tried printing from different applications, on different Windows XP
computers. This makes me want to think that it is a low level
problem.
Protocol is raw.
Print spooling enabled/disabled.
Printing language PCL/auto.
Advanced printing features on/off.
DPI 600x600 or 300x300.
Paper size is letter. (Correct paper size is Letter.)

What is the deal here? Anything else I could try?

If you move the text slightly down the page (say one or two lines)
within the application, doe sit no longer get cut off on the hardcopy print?

I'm not sure this is an uncommon defect. It may even be due to some
graphic card issues or its driver. I have noticed that several of my
laser printers with some applications will not print the very top line
is I put it a minimum margin.

If this is the issue, you may need to just set a default document size
that increases the top margin slightly to compensate.

Are the internal test pages of the printer good ?
