Hi !
I don't have a network hub and I need to connect HP LJ 4050 and my Acer
Aspire 5672 laptop. Laptop has no other useable connection than ethernet
port and printer has JetDirect. I use crossover cabel to make connection.
Both LEDs are active (on printer and laptop).
I get "Could not aquire network adress" error.
PLS can anyone help me configure this 2 work.

TNX

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Details are missing from your post: what operating system is being used?

Can't tell whether the error is being shown by the computer or the
printer. Either way, it's probably due to them expecting a DHCP server
on your network, and there isn't one.

You'll need to assign static IP addresses to each. For example,
192.168.1.1 and netmask 255.255.255.0 for the computer, and
192.168.1.240 netmask 255.255.255.0 for the printer.

If you are running Windows, this may help:
