I am using a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 4000T that is hooked up to only one
computer using Windows XP. Recently, the printer indicated it was out of
paper, once paper was added, a message was displayed stating "Printing Test
Engine." When this happens it will use all of the paper in the tray and
then ask for more paper to be added and continue doing the same thing. I am
unable to cancel the job as when that button is pushed, a message appears
"No job to cancel." I have been unable to find anything in the manual to
assist me with this and HP does not offer support on this model printer any
longer. If anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it as I am unable
to use the printer at this time.
Thank you.

You have a bad controller board. It is stuck in engine test mode. The
controller board is
a large board that sits at the bottom of the printer just above the paper
tray.
