HP LaserJet 1000

Looking for opinions please.

I can get a LaserJet 1000 at Office Depot for about $84 (including tax).
This looks like a good deal since the standard toner/drum cartridge runs
about $65.

I mainly want it for relatively light duty use and to reserve my photo
printer for photos only. The printer probably comes with a "starter"
cartridge that should be fine for several months.

It will be used mostly with Windows 98SE and Windows 2000.

Any pros and cons appreciated.

Thanks.

The Samsung 1710 for $99 after rebate is a much newer design and has a
faster print engine. I would recommend you check it out before making a
final decision. The LJ1000 is being discontinued by HP and that's why it's
so cheap.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was thinking it was probably discontinued even though Office Depot doesn't
have it listed as a clearance item.

I think I'll wait until the holiday season. Sometimes the "real" sales are
better then.

Thanks again.

Isn't that printer Windows only ? If yes, dont get it. In future you can
have problems with drivers. Buy printer with languages like a PCL or
postscript.

Yes, as far as I can determine.

I cancelled my order and will continue looking.

Thanks for the feedback.
