HP laser printers - recommendation needed

Vedran Dracic

Hi!

For many years I've used HP LaserJet 5L and I'm planning to buy a new laser
printer.
I'm interested in HP LaserJet 1010, 1012, 1015, 1150 and 1300, the
differences in prices are obvious, but since there is no much infor except
what I can find on HP website, I really don't know what would be the best
solution. The speed is not important, only the quality of print and the
quality of drivers.
(I'm looking for the reviews of these printers, but I can't find really much
on the Internet by search engines. If anyone could give me some useful
links, I'd really appreciate it much.)
And could anyone tell me how these HP models compare to the other laser
printers (Lexmark, etc) and what would you recommend?

Can't help a deal, as I'm in exactly the same position.
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/ and http://www.computershopper.co.uk/ have some
comparative laser reviews, Shopper rate the 1300 very highly in its price
range.

HP models all seem to handle envelopes well, less crumpling than most other
brands, and that's important to me.

Memory is one difference, apart from speed; my old 5L struggles with the
stock 1Mb, won't print graphics at 600dpi under 98SE and occasional problems
with pdf, so I'm going for the 1150 (8Mb) or 1300 (16Mb) if I see a good
price.

Driver file is the same for both, so I suspect quality will be similar.
