hp flat bed scanner

Greetings,
I download the drivers for a HP 3770 flat bed scanner recently, but i
just can't operate it by clicking the icon on the desk top.
However, if I click start,all programs, accessories, paint, file and
from scanner/ camera it works,
or if I double click the 'my computer icon', double click the scanner
icon, and select 'Microsoft office scanning document' or Microsoft
Office scanner and camera wizzard it works.
I would really love to activate it from the desk top.

Go into Device Manager, bring up driver properties for the scanner,
and see if you can select between HP and Microsoft drivers. If it's
set to Microsoft, change it to HP.

I'm not sure this is the problem in your case, but that's how you get
some other scanner drivers (e.g. Umax's MagicScan) to work in
more recent Windows versions (like XP).

Also (obviously) check for driver updates on HP's site.
