Hp deskjet 500c

I am trying to work with my old but good HP DeskJet 500c with my new Pc (windows XP). From what I saw Windows XP has a driver for this printer. I followed the wizard and , it seed as the instillation was successfully completed. Unfortunately the printer does not respond . although it works fine on my old PC with win 98.

Did you check with HP's website to see what they recommend? If not, start
there.

If you're really committed to the old printer, look into a USB-Parallel
adapter cable. XP does not play nice with parallel devices.
