HP D5160 Direct-to-CD printing

I'm taking my first shot at this, using DISCUS 3.16 software.

While it's partially working, it appears as though there is
insufficent space for the cd tray to pass cleanly through the printer.
It sounds as though the print heads are banging on the cd. There are
vertical scrape lines on the cd after the operation, partially
scraping the newly printed label off.

Anybody else have experience with this?

Sounds like maybe you're not selecting the correct paper source or type in
the driver before printing.

I have a partial solution.

I installed HP Solution center(software included on installation cd),
and performed print head alignment.
In order to get this printout, you must close the cd-tray. Upon re-
opening, to try another cd-print, it seemed to 'sync' itself again.
This new positioning allowed a noise-free cd-printing, meaning that
there was no longer any sound of heads banging on the cd-tray. The
worst of the vertical streaks is also gone, but there are still about
5 vertical stripes (all narrow) where it looks like the paint is
scraped off, so are lighter than the surrounding canvas. It's still
not quite a clean result, but much closer than before.

I took that unit back and got another one(same model), which is
apparently newer. I'm calling it newer strictly because it included a
separate Vista CD, which was not present with the earlier one.

This unit seemed to work quite well (direct-to-cd print with Discus
3.16) the first time, no glitches, no streaking, a pretty clean
result.
