HP C5180 ink levels

I just installed this printer over the weekend. I have it hooked up
to the ethernet port only, and two PCs are able to print to the
printer, so it seems to be working fine.

I cannot, however, find a way to check the ink levels. I sure hope
that it's supported when the connection is ethernet.

If it turns out that I can only get ink levels when using the USB
interface, is it (will it) be possible to use simultaneously the
ethernet connection and the USB connection (USB for one PC, ethernet
for the other)

Thanks,

Scott

If both machines are on the network, you can install the same printer to
both, using the USB connect. The host PC does have to be on, and the printer
has to be shared, but it works fine. Just install it on the host, then share
it, then navigate to it from the 2nd PC and install it.

The answer is yes.
You can install the printer on a USB connection as well as Ethernet. That way
your network will be unchanged and you will only need to power up the USB
connected PC if you need to use it or if you need to check ink levels.

If it's the same as the C6180, go into the HP Solution Center,
then Settings. I just checked the ink levels on my mum's C6180
40 miles away via it's ethernet connection (and the internet).
(There's nothing connected to the USB port on that printer.)
