HP 6200c: Is there any hope?

Somewhere along the line, this thing got flakey. "Parameter Errors"....I'd
have to request a preview (via HP's Scanning pgm) several times.

Now the thing isn't even recognized following an abended automatic update
courtesy of HP.

Seems like it all started when I switched it from SCSI to USB2.

Anybody been here?

If you are using Windows XP. Windows update to SP2.
The USB 2.0 sort of worked in SP1, did not work at all in plain not upgraded
XP.

My 6200 did exactly the same thing although I've always used USB1 with
windows 2000. One day it started playing up and it gradually got worse. In
the end you had to request a scan loads of times before it would eventually
obey - with various error messages along the way incl the one you get. I
eventually bought a new scanner and threw the 6200 way!!!!

I got a canon lide50 and its so much less stress when it works first time
everytime. Scanners are so cheap now I suggest you do the same thing.

sorry I can't be more encouraging

I'm running 2000 Pro with automatic updates from MS. I'm starting to
suspect that one or more of the updates compromised something.

Installed it on my backup PC (no updates) and it works fine via the
SCSI port.

I guess the next logical step is to re-install it on my main PC using
SCSI instead of USB...
