HP 4260: Dropped a dime

R

Richard Evans

The HP 4260 has an auxiliary tray that folds out from the front of the
machine. My printer is on a roll-out stand under the desk. I knocked a
dime off the desk, it hit the extended auxiliary tray, slid down to
the hinge area, and disappeared into the innards of the printer. I
can't see it with a flashlight. As far as I can tell, it should have
dropped directly through to the main paper tray, but it wasn't there.
I've pulled all the pieces one can obviously remove, but can't find
it. The printer is way too heavy to pick up and shake.

Before I call the service tech, anyone have any ideas where it went
and whether or not it can be sucked into the paper path?

Good chance the dime lies just at the bottom of the printer withour doing
any harm. Just try a test page. 99% chance it will print flawless... The 1%
is the dime blocking the paper... other harm can't be done.

Thanks. I've run a couple of pages through OK, but didn't know if that
was sufficient assurance that things would stay OK.
