HP 4050 throughput

I read a review that claimed that a Hewlett-Packard 4050T or 4050TN
(dual 250 page trays) can print more pages per minute than a 4050 or
4050N (single 500 page tray) because it grabs paper from alternating
trays.

My question concerns what happens when you add the additional
500 page tray to each model

Does the 4050/4050N then grab paper from alternating 500-page
trays and get the speedup?

Or does it empty the upper tray then start on the bottom tray?

Does the 4050T/4050TN grab paper from alternating 250-page trays
until they are empty, then start on the bottom tray?

Does the duplexer make a difference?

Your question intrigues me, all the specs I have read for the 4050 and 4050T
indicate 17 pages per minute.
Can you provide a link to the review you mention, I would like to research this?
