HP 4000 laserjet setting IP ?

Hi,

I can't get Web JetAdmin to work on my WinXP system, even after
updating the Java. I seem to remember having been able to set it up via
a DOS screen, Telnet, or perhaps a web page when I first set the IP
number for the printer.

Could someone remind me how to do this?

Failing this, I believe it can be done via the buttons and menus on the
actual printer, could someone remind me how to do it please?

The printer is working at the moment via the LAN, I just need to adjust
its present IP number to another one.

Cheers....

I have done that several times already and failed to find it, but
thanks anyway. I need a step by step leading me to the IP setting.

Thanks Jay, that URL helped me to find it. The menu system on the 4000
is not very intuitive.

Hi,

I didn't have much luck getting in to change the IP via the HP's front
panel controls, but I found it very easy using a Telnet connection....

1. Start a Telnet session.
2. Connect to ???.???.???.???:2300 (the TCP/IP address of your printer
followed by the port number :2300
3. Type 'ip: ???.???.???.???' (replace the ??? with the new TCP/IP
address you want to assign to the printer)
4. Power cycle the printer.

Shouldn't need a non-standard port number, or any port number at all.
3. Type 'ip: ???.???.???.???' (replace the ??? with the new TCP/IP
address you want to assign to the printer)

Do a 'quit' before disconnecting or it won't save the changes.
